This notice explains, in plain English, what happens to the details you give us when you use this website. Please read it before you submit an enquiry so you are comfortable with how your information is handled.

About this website

SubsidenceSurveys.co.uk is a lead-matching service. We are not the company that carries out subsidence surveys, monitoring or engineering reports ourselves. We collect enquiries from visitors and pass them to one or more vetted, qualified specialist firms operating in the visitor's area who can quote for and, if instructed, carry out the requested work. Any contract for services is formed directly between you and the specialist firm you choose to engage.

The information we ask for

When you complete an enquiry form, call us or send an email you typically share:

• Your name and your preferred contact method (phone, email).
• The property address, line, town, county and postcode, so the enquiry can be routed to a specialist who covers that area.
• A description of the issue and any photographs you choose to attach.
• Property context you choose to share (age, type, recent works, nearby trees, drainage).
• Whether an insurance claim, dispute or sale is in progress.

Visiting the site also produces technical information automatically , IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, the page that brought you here, and timestamps. We use this to keep the site running, to block spam, and to understand which pages are useful.

Why we are allowed to use it

The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR Article 6) requires a lawful basis for handling personal information. We rely on two:

• Consent. You give consent by ticking the box on the enquiry form, having read the on-form notice, before pressing submit.
• Legitimate interests. Operating a lead-matching service that connects homeowners with qualified specialists, and maintaining auditable records of the enquiries we have passed on , is in our legitimate interests and, on balance, in yours.

What we do with your enquiry

• Match it to one or more qualified specialist firms covering your area.
• Pass the enquiry details and any photographs to those firms so they can contact you about it.
• Contact you ourselves where useful to confirm we have received your enquiry or to ask a clarifying question.
• Detect and block fraudulent, duplicate or abusive submissions.
• Improve the site, including which guidance pages are most read.
• Send service-related updates only where you have specifically asked for them.

Who else sees your information

The categories of organisations your information may be shared with:

• Qualified specialist firms. One or more vetted subsidence specialists who cover your area. Once an enquiry is passed on, that firm becomes an independent data controller for your details and will contact you directly. Their own privacy notice then governs how they handle your information.
• Processors we use to run the site. Web hosting, the form-submission service that delivers your enquiry to our inbox, email and customer-record tools, and anti-spam services. Each is engaged under a written data-processing agreement.
• Analytics providers. Aggregated traffic data used to understand how the site performs. This does not normally identify you personally.
• Regulators and legal advisers. Only where we are obliged to disclose information or need advice on a dispute.

We do not sell or rent your information. We do not share enquiry details with anyone whose business is selling unrelated products to you.

Transfers outside the UK

Some of the providers we use store data on servers outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens we rely on safeguards approved under UK GDPR, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or a country's adequacy status where one is in place.

How long we keep the information

Enquiry records are retained for up to 24 months from the date of submission, so that we can deal with any follow-up questions, demonstrate that consent was obtained, and review the quality of the matches we have made. Where we are required to keep records for longer (for example, accounting records required by HMRC), we do so only for that purpose and for the period required.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to ask us to:

• Tell you what information we hold about you and provide a copy.
• Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
• Delete information where there is no good reason to keep it.
• Pause our use of it while a question is being resolved.
• Provide a portable copy in a common format.
• Object to our use based on legitimate interests.

Withdrawing consent

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing the contact address shown on the site. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it, and it does not pull the enquiry back from a specialist firm we have already passed it to, you would need to contact that firm directly to ask them to stop using your details.

If you are not happy with how your information has been handled you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses a small number of cookies. Essential ones make the site work. Optional analytics cookies help us see which pages are useful, and a conversion pixel may tell an advertising platform that a form was submitted (without sharing the content of that form). Where required, a cookie banner lets you choose which optional cookies to allow.

Children

The site is aimed at homeowners, buyers, sellers and property professionals. It is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted form submission, restricted access to enquiry records, and regular review of the providers we use. No internet service can promise perfect security, but we take the protection of enquiry data seriously.

Changes to this notice

We review this notice from time to time and update the date at the top when it changes. Material changes are highlighted on the page itself.
